Gaming PC for 10 year old

My son wants a gaming PC, he plays games from Steam etc... they all look super expensive! I want something potentially upgradable in future. Happy to consider second hand / self build but no idea where to start with type. all seems gobbledegook. I am hopeful it could last at least 5 years. Thanks. Budget ideally £500 - £800 but less or more possibly considered if that's thought of as too low.

I've just asked my techy DH about this (he built gaming PCs for both my sons). He said your best bet is go on Reddit and go to the sub-reddit "r/buildapc" and ask the same question, you will get loads of help.

Btw you don't have to build it yourself you can get someone else to build it for you, you just get a much better spec then buying off the shelf.

Or think about getting a Steam Deck when they come out.
