Flickering picture on new dvd/video recorder

Anyone know why the video pic on my new dvd recorder/vhs player might be flickering horribly? I'm not trying to tape from it so I don't think it's copy-protection and I haven't been able to check the dvd pic as DS spotted the Teletubbies video out of its box and started howling for it so I've had to replug in the old video....
Any geniuses out there can help?

Are the leads all in properly? I know it seems obvious but we thought recently we'd have to buy a new tv because we'd lose the picture, turned out the scart lead wasn't in properly!

Other than that, no ideas I'm afraid

is it a seperate video player and dvd palyer? we have seperate ones and they both run through the same tv channel, and this causes the tv picture to run faintly under the dvd picture iyswim. to stop it you have to run them through different tv channels.
i hop you make sense of this!! im not good with technology, but this is what a friend told me when he looked at ours.

how are they connected to the TV... is it DVD to Video to TV?

Also are you using Scart cables (big rectangular leads) or the old fashioned standard ariel connections??

If you 'daisy chain' a DVD player to a Video and then a TV the macromedia protection system will kick in an cause this effect... this is designed to stop people recording DVD's to videos (why they would want to I have no idea)...

Just a thought

Thanks for the advice - turns out its an integral fault - although the man at Daewoo thought it only affected Disney videos [hmmm] - and it is supposed to stop you copying tapes across cos the system is an all in one dvd and video. Now I have to put some software patch on and it'll work. Maybe. I hope.
