Using own computer for work... security

Not sure if anyone can help.

I'm due to use my own computer to log onto a companies own system for a contract job.

I have to be logged in for the day. I'm not planning on doing anything dodgy, but am concerned about security. My computer contains everything financial, emails, photos etc.

Is my own computer accessible? I know using work computers at home is fair game but what about this way round. I'm not planning on either skiving work or browsing anything worrying whilst connected to them (or anyway), but the thought of someone being able to access my web history, bank details, mumsnet conversations, or anything personal Worries me.

Could anyone talk me through what's possible or not? Thank you.
