hi

have spent quite a bit of time importing all my cd onto ipod and dh friend mentioned buying a hard drive to keep them all on incase ipod breaks

how big a hard drive should i buy (nano holds 2000 songs) any make recommended? also i use lap top - not sure if this would make difference to hard drive

If the ipod breaks, all your songs are on the hard drive of your laptop. If the laptop breaks, you're screwed, though.

You could back up the data from the laptop - I think you can get external drives on a USB. I'd look at the directory where iTunes stores the songs to see how big a drive you need - then get it a fair bit bigger, so you can use it to back up any other important information or documents.

i first started importing cd on my old laptop (from work) but they then gave me a newer laptop so continued using new laptop (had to give back old laptop)

i tried saving everything onto a stick but it didnt work so newer laptop only has some of stuff i copied

can i move evrything from my ipod (saved form both old and new laptop) onto new laptop then save it all on a hard drive thingy?

I don't think ipods generally support copying things from the ipod to the computer.
