Anyone else a software / web developer?

Just wondering really. Don't meet many other women who do it and tbh I am just looking to divert myself from the dull dull dull website I am putting together.

Geekboy that is what I actually answered. He was really just testing my knowledge of the VB6 dev environment but he hadn't made that clear. No matter how many times I said this when he was sharing the hillarious story with other staff I still managed to look daft.

Anyway, afer a couple of years I ended up doing the exciting projects and he was stuck on the legacy crap so I suppose that telling the story ended up making him look a bit of a dick

Thinking back to that interview, it was held in the cantine as the company had very little office space and was expanding rapidly. The kitchen staff were all banging about, cooking and shouting - it was a total nightmare. However, i was lucky as the rest of the interviews were being conducted in the interviewer's car (I kid you not) but this was deemed unappropriate as I was female. Can you imagine going for an interview and being asked to have a seat in someone's car??!!

I've had interviews in strange places (the dotcom start-up times were fun...) but never a car.. ...pubs, clubs (oh and a train) but not a car...

One time the company gained the usage of a meeting room at a nearby hall so that they could do an interview. This was in winter and the interview was late afternoon. After meeting the candidate in the car park my boss proceeded to take him to the hall via a short cut through some woods... in the dark, not on a footpath - both of them in suits and briefcases pushing through trees!

The guy took the job and became head of testing. He said that he honestly thought he was being taken somewhere to be killed
