so my questions are these:

  1. why does my screen go really really dim when I take the power leads out? how do I change it so it's the same brightness as when the pack's in.

  2. my wireless connection says unsecured - how the hell do I secure it - and what does that mean? apparently 3rd parties can view my google serches??

  3. don't think I have anti virus/firewalls etc on there yet - don't mind waiting for H to put them on but would be good if they were already on there.

  4. think that's about all for now but will come back if I have more probs

thanks am trying not to ask H - am on the whole I don't need you kick at the mo.

  1. Check your settings. Is it a pc? There will be something like display/energy settings. It's dimming to save on energy while not plugged in, but you shoul dbe able to change it (you'll just need to charge it more often).
  1. You can add a password, so other people can't use your wireless connection for free. Not sure how to do it though!
  1. Not sure about these, have a look under All Programs and see what you have there

Okay for antivirus - google avg free version and download that. Easy peasy.

For the wireless connection, you need to set up a password on the main hub (or at least the computer connected to it - is it BT by chance, there are instructions in the little booklet that comes with it)

If your screen dims on battery you have battery power saving on - click on the battery sign and there should be a setting option. BTW you need to charge your battery for a lonnnnng time the first time otherwise this happens anyway.
