dh and I have combined birthday and christmas presents to each other to buy ourselves a PS3. it suddenly dawned on me that I've not checked what connections I might need for it to plug in to the telly. I don't think that will be a problem.

More importantly do we need to connect it to our cable internet to get downloads when we set it up or will it set up ok without? we are with virgin broadband. I'm not sure how we would do it or what conections we would need.

Thanks for any help

Do you have wireless? If you do it can be done that way, it only needs to be connected for updates.

The connections will come with it, is your tv HD or not?

No - not wireless. Am planning to get a router in the sales but I'm not sure what spec we really need? tv is HD.

You'll get one single connection for the ps3 then as it's hd to connect, not sure about the router, dp will know though so if no-one else has told you I'll ask him when he gets home.

Apparently I was wrong, you'll need a HDMI lead, they don't come with the PS3.
If you're on a standard broadband connection just get something simple that is G+ and that will do it fine. You do not need it to be plugged into the net though unless you want to update or play online so there isnt a hurry to get one.

Cool - thanks! we have a spare hdmi cable so thats lucky! will save the router til the sales.

Am feeling exceptionally geeky-proud now to take my mind off truely dreadful day I searched in sales and found a g+ wireless router. I've managed to set it up so now I can play on the playstation network (if I ever get good enough at anything lol!)
And I only used a couple of swear words!
