How does having two sims in one phone work?

I have a work phone and a personal phone. I keep all calls, messages, email separate.

My personal phone has had an accident. If I put both sims in the work phone, first will it work and second how does it work? Will calls and messages get through on both numbers or do you have to switch between sims?

I asume it is a 2 sim phone? So you can go to settings and activate both sims. You can set a different ring tone for each. You can switch off the work one when you are not on duty. I have a dual sim phone and it is very convenient.

Yes 2 sim phone. That does sound really useful, I shall have to have a play and order a new sim before replacing the phone. Thank you

If you have a lap top or similar you can google how to set it all up, there are videos that show you how to do it, then you can watch the video on one device and set up the phone while watching.

I take it it's android. It's pretty straight forward. In settings you'll be able to pick a default SIM for calls, texts and data. For calls and texts you can swap between them by selecting the SIM (it will say your default, just click on it to change it). If you want to swap data over pull down the quick menu tap where is says data sim1 and change it. Any incoming calls or texts will tell you which SIM it is.
