Please help me get my folders back!

I was having issues with my HP laptop, and they advised me to reset it to factory settings, so I did, but now I don't know how to get all my stuff back! They talked me through how to save it all to 'OneDrive' which I did, but no idea how to get it back. I can't get through to the HP peeps and they always seem to ring me when I'm driving or working and I'm getting desperate! Please tell me how it's done!

Sorry, I have no idea OP, but if you try asking again and put in your headline somehow that you need to retrieve stuff from your onedrive, but don't know how to do it, then you mimight get some help. I thought you meant physical folders, and wondered how you could expect mumsnetters to help you find your lost folders!

So you set up a One Drive account, yep? And have your details?

On your lap top screen you normally have a task bar at the top and at bottom. My One Drive icon is at the bottom - it's a cloud icon - and I'd click on that to open it.

Can you see it? Mine's between the battery icon and the wifi icon.

Yes @TrevorFountain is right, although the OneDrive icon may not be visible on the taskbar unless you've set it to be. You may find the cloud icon if you click on the little symbol on the right hand side of the task bar that looks like the top of an up arrow. You need to sign in to your account (probably an outlook.com email address?) and then it will synchronise what you've stored in OneDrive with your machine.

If OneDrive is signed in, you can open up File Explorer and in the left hand pane you should see a 'folder' called 'OneDrive', or you can type into the search box on the left hand side of the task bar.

You can also check that the files are in there by going to onedrive.live.com in a browser window and signing in.
