DD does competitive ballroom dancing

She loves it

Everyone wants to see photos of her

My camera takes a blur

I do need a new camera (possibly in the sales)

What should I buy?

I am no camera expert - Cant afford to buy all of them to check them out

But basically the smaller compact cameras can only allow so much light in, so their ability to focus quickly is lower than a larger camera. (This is from experience and physics).

I think what you want to get is a SLR style camera. The canon 350D/400D for example - which is naturally bigger and bulkier than a compact.

From the advertising bumph, some newer compact cameras claim to get rid of the hand shake effect, they might work - but I've never tried any so couldn't comment.

I have a digital Canon Ixus. I have been really pleased with it and would recommend it. One of the functions it has is the option to take one photo after another - so you get a series of them in a short space of time. This means you should get a good one amongst the ones taken. It also has the video function too/

The problem with photos of dancing is that they never reflect the talent of the subject! I have lots of photos of my DD dancing (ballet) but they are all rubbish.

IMO the best way is to take pics of her all dressed up and posed in a suitable ballroom-y position. Either that or film her, stick it on the web and send people a link - much better

you need to get one with a sports mode apparently... I was enquiring about this yesterday as my sons rugby pictures are all blured...

Thanks I'll look out for that function
