Has anyone bought refurbished iPads?

I'm thinking of buying a couple of refurbished iPads for the kids for Christmas. They're tweens and both could do with them for homework.

We simply can't afford new ones and we've had various tablets but they've not been up to it.

I just wondered what other people did?

DD had a chrome book but in all honesty using my iPad has been so much easier for her to access everything she needs for secondary school. The teachers use so many different apps and websites.

The other option is to buy a home computer or laptop...?

I just wondered what everyone else does?

Had both a refurbished iPad and a refurbished MacBook. Bought via Apple website. Both great - you would never know they weren't new. Both are still working strong. Totally worth the saving!

As katieak says if you get from Apple you can’t go wrong

I have a 12.9 pro but only because I l want the size I wish they did the Air in 12.9 size
I don’t use many of the features of the pro

That's reassuring.
I've seen some on various sites including eBay with warranties. Has anyone bought one from eBay?

I have bought about 400 for work over the last 7years. 4 have been faulty and apple have replaced them. Defo go refurbished.

I bought mine from the apple store and they come exactly as new, new box and wrapping, everything new. The only second hand bit apparently is the but inside you can't see. Still has guarantee. We bought a refurbished iMac too.

Haven't bought one - but I sold my old MacBook Air via Macfinder and I know that that machine was absolutely immaculate.

I run my own business, so go through a lot of "tech". I've bought all kinds of "refurbished" laptops, iphones, ipads, etc from the authorised Amazon Prime refurbishers. All but one have been absolutely fine. You do notice battery life is never as good as new, which is hardly surprising as they do deteriorate with age. The one I had a problem with was sent back and refunded without quibble - the reason it went back was that there was more "cosmetic" damage than they grading it for.

Before I disovered the Amazon approved refurbisher sellers, I used ebay a few times, but you've not got the same level of assurance and there's more of a risk of con merchants or shoddy goods, and you have the added issue of getting refunds for your return postage too.

Do be careful with iPads. My iPad Pro suddenly stopped charging 2-3 months outside the warranty. Took it to an Apple approved tech place and the only thing they will do is replace it for the same model at a cost of over £600 😱. Always was fine charging, until it wasn’t!

Bought a refurbished iPad mini on eBay for DS a couple of years ago. It's still going strong.
