Ds 3.8 was playing a Nick Jnr website game (a Swiper fox one!) and when I came back everything on the monitor's visual display was upside down.

I've tried turning pc on and off again to rectify it but it hasn't worked. (Am typing this from my pc not dh's)

Ds will be incandescent! I will be lectured about how I shouldn't let ds use his pc and go into his office etc, etc

How do I sort this?

OMG!!
Sure it is easily remedied but I don't know how.

Someone will though.

Do you mean the tool bars etc are all in the wrong place?

handlemecarefully · 30/11/2007 13:57

Done that and it didn't

Try again (she's says, who knows nowt about computers) Mine was behaving very oddly one morning this week and it sorted itself out on the 4th attempt of turning off/on

handlemecarefully · 30/11/2007 13:59

Yes Mercy and they are actually upside down with the description underneath them upside down and the mouse cursor when moved, moves everything in the opposite direction to what it usually does (am not explaining this well am I?)

So for instance the 'Start' thing is in the top right of the screen not the bottom left, and 'start' is written upside down.

It's too wierd

Ok I'll go downstairs and will try switching off and on again a few more times

try holding down ctrl, alt and the up arrow key all together

Baffy · 30/11/2007 14:02

bump for you...

Mercy · 30/11/2007 14:03

Oh dear, I've not heard of the writing being upside down too!

Can you click and drag them to the right place?

Aitch · 30/11/2007 14:03

dd does this all the time... foxy's right.

flowerybeanbag · 30/11/2007 14:03

Turn it off and then leave it off for a bit before turning it back on?

I have no idea why I am on this thread, I am clueless about computers but was intrigued by the title! My suggestion is a genuine one though.

LittleMy34 · 30/11/2007 14:03

Are you running Windows XP? Try pressing Ctrl-Alt and the Up arrow all together, like you would for Ctrl Alt delete but with Up instead.

foxinsocks · 30/11/2007 14:03

or control panel, display, settings and change the screen resolution.

handlemecarefully · 30/11/2007 14:05

Foxinsocks - you're a bloody genuius. I tried your suggestion before switching on and off again and it worked!!!!! I think I love you.

I would have been toast if it hadn't worked out.

The shortcuts on the screen are a bit messy - but I can move then around. Everything is upright again!

Oh and thanks LittleMy too.

Ahhh, alls well that ends well

foxinsocks · 30/11/2007 14:06

lol

some games do it to the computer. I don't know why (I think it is to do with the screen resolution!).

Aitch · 30/11/2007 14:07

ahem.

Mercy · 30/11/2007 14:07

Phew!

LittleMy34 · 30/11/2007 14:09

It's a feature for people using tablet PCs, you know the ones that are just a portable flat screen, so you can have the desktop any which way you want.

You can turn the hot keys off so DS can't do it again but Ctrl Alt Up will always work.

And Aitch knew too!

handlemecarefully · 30/11/2007 14:13

Sorry Aitch! Thanks

Ha! Glad it's all sorted - I was just going to post the solution but I see Foxy and Aitch have got there already.

DS did this to mine - I turned my head away for literally 2 seconds, turned back and it was all upside down. We only have the one laptop so I had to spend half an hour googling with my head on one side trying to read the upside down screen.

However it has come in handy as a good april fools to play on colleagues...

Aitch · 30/11/2007 14:46

i spent about an hour trying to bash at the keyboard like a toddler the first time she did it. it's AWFUL.
