I have an old refurbished iphone 6, (16gb) I have had it for about 6 years now and its on its last legs.

DH has offered to buy me a new SE 2020. I have said thank you but no thank you as they are a lot of money.

I have seen a refurbished iphone 7 32GB for significantly less obviously. Are iphone's 7 still a good phone? The iphone 6 has considering it was a refurb, been a really good phone for me (it's struggling now though!)

In the long run though would I be better off with the SE2020 or does the iphone 7 do pretty much just the same? I'm not really one that's bothered about the latest model, as long as I can make, receive calls, send and receive texts, web browsing and take some photos, that will do me. My dd and DH both have the SE2020 and yes, its very, very quick compared to my little old 6, but question is, is it really worth the money?!

If DH would like to buy you one then I would let him. I have an XR and when I moved from my previous iPhone I was so pleased with how it looked and felt. It will also last longer than an iPhone 7.

This is from a quick search on the net from imore.com which I think answers your question.

Best answer: Apple doesn't sell the iPhone 7 anymore, and although you may be able to find one used or through a carrier, it's not worth buying right now. If you're looking for a cheap phone, the iPhone SE is sold by Apple, and it's very similar to the iPhone 7, but features much better speed and performance.15 Apr 2020

For longevity I would go with the SE, it’s the newer phone & will mean you’ll continue to receive iOS updates.
The 7 is fine for now but I estimate in the next year -18 months it will stop receiving the updates (I think iPhone 6 was the last one to stop receiving them)

I was also going to say it won't be getting the updates soon so no point having it really. Take the new phone !

You can get refurbished iphone se 2020 now, check on amazon. iphone se 2020 has same cpu and ram as iphone 11, hence worth investment - will last you much longer.
