Laptop for school

Trying to find a new laptop for DD who's starting secondary school in September. I'm not sure what to get her though, I was looking at a HP EliteBook but really not sure on it. Wondered if anyone could possibly add any advice please?

It's not terrible, but I think you can do better for the money.

Bear in mind anything older than an 8th generation processor (ix-8xxx) won't be guaranteed to work with Windows 11 which comes out in October.

For that sort of money I'd be looking on the Huawei site through student beans or NHS discounts at a new ryzen 5 machine.

I'd also say the 12" screen is small for a lit of work,

I had a look, the Huawei Matebook 14 (which is what I'm using at the minute) is £599, which is a fair bit over your budget, but id argue worth it given the RRP is £750

Matebook 13 can be had for £550, but compromises a bit on the battery

The Matebook D for aruond £530, but it doesnt have the same spectacular screen as the 13/14 models.

Anything with windows 10 that meets the required spec will get automatically upgraded for no cost anyway.
