I want all the files on onedrive on my computer

I want to edit some of the files on onedrive so I am only backing up some of them

but I am finding this almost impossible and I have foolishly lost some data by doing it the wrong way

Help?

Hi.
Can you explain the bits where you say edit some, backup some please?

Are the files all in Onedrive to begin with?

Everything is on one drive

I only need some of it on one drive

I need all of it on my computer apart from a few things which I will 'archive's

Currently I can click on a file on my computer and it isn't there it's up on onedrive and its annoying (& probably my fault)

I don't use Onedrive, but I do use Google Drive to back up stuff from my PC. With Gdrive I can select specific folders, and just put the stuff I want to back up in there. Actually, it's a folder with sub-folders, but it still works. Maybe see if you can do that with Onedrive?

If the trouble is that you can't see files on your computer, my first check would be to log in to OneDrive from a browser like chrome.

If you can see the files there, but bit in your computer, it's just an issue in syncing.

It may seem confusion but draw your self a simple diagram is if explaining it words of one syllable. Anticipate the questions you would be asked. Good luck.

Are you definitely logged into one drive in your computer? The one drive folder is generally present in file explorer all the time so data can be saved in there even if you're not logged in. If you aren't logged in then this folder won't sync.
