Chip in IPhone 11 screen or having me on

I need to replace my iPhone 11 screen, I phoned a repair shop and he quoted me £140 and said that was with programming. I asked what he meant by that and he said that iPhone 11’s have chips in the screen that need programming or the colour will be affected, and that the cheaper shops don’t do this.

My first instinct is that he’s having me on, but I don’t know anything about phones so perhaps he is correct?

I googled it because I thought it must be absolute nonsense but I actually think it might be true

The warning doesn’t seem to affect operation—other than the loss of True Tone, which occurs with any display swap not performed by Apple or using specialty chip programming tools.

Yes that was it! True Tone. As soon as I hung up I could not remember his explanation
