thanks it seems to have gone. very odd I deleted a couple of things and it has diaspeared. I think (ok i spoke to dh's mate) that it is spyware made to look like a trojan. I went on the mcafee site and they had never heard of it. but if it comes back or I don't get any luck when I email mcafee I will try them.

I used AVG free edition after reading a few threads on MN
It shifted a few nasties for me
