help, why can't i increase my sound levels?

I seem to have lost my sound,I have no idea why. I can hear it faintly and have checked the volume settings are at their max, how do I get it back up to a decent level?

Silly question, but have you checked the volume knob on the speakers? This is an incredibly silly question if you're on a laptop!

Oh, that was my only idea tbh, I'm pretty useless on the technical side of things, but sometimes its the silly things that people miss!
