Subtitles on iplayer foreign language programmes

Hi. Does anyone know if it’s possible to turn off subtitles on iplayer? Not the additional subtitles that you can toggle on/off but English subtitles on a show in another language. I want to challenge myself to watch Spiral properly in French but can’t get rid of the English subtitles. Maybe it’s not possible?

It's still a great show though

I don’t think so on iPlayer, because it would have been broadcast with those subtitles.

Things on Netflix and the like tend to allow you because they host shows in different languages anyway.

No, you can't. I tried to with Hidden as I couldn't find Craith on any platforms at the time. I just closed my eyes during the bits in Welsh in the end (& will be making sure I record the s4c Welsh language version of series 3 when it comes out)!

Ah, thanks! I can’t make myself ignore the subtitles and just listen! Never mind. It is a good show, although when I went back to the early series I found them unpleasantly focussed on female corpses. Later series great though.
