FACEBOOK! How do I make a group that people have to ask to join but I don't have to specifically invite?

I thought it was a closed group but that doesn't have a button to request to join!

a closed but not private group i think?the one i created has a request to join button,i know i made it a public group though iyswim?

Mine is a closed group....grr

i think they have changed something as i have just noticed there is no longer a 'request to join' button for the MN group now,and there was when i first joined facebook.
