'no reception' on mobile phone - constantly!! Any idea why?

Since August I've had trouble getting reception on my mobile almost every day. Before that it was fine. And it still works when I travel to a nearby town (making me very mobile but not the blummin phone).

Every few minutes it beeps to let me know that it's either lost or regained reception; when I'm using it sometimes people can't hear me though I can hear them & messages take ages to get through to me & can be very crackly.

Is it the phone (motorola v220 - basic flip open, no extras), my sim card (Tescos payg) or where I live? I haven't got the foggiest idea how these things work & could do with some advice before I start spending.

Thanks!!

i'd wager it's where you live if it works in other areas ok.
but you will find that some networks have much better coverage than others

Sounds like a network (tesco or whoever provides their coverage) problem.

Do visitors to your house with other mobile service providers have problems with their phones?

tesco P7G will be like my fresh simcard, veyr poor unless you are sat on top of a transmitter!...they transmitter it uses near you(could be vodaphone/orange etc) may be down?
