Google Desktop - keep it or uninstall?

I have a new PC which came with Google Desktop on it. I never needed it before and am not currently getting any benefit I am aware of. Is it worth keeping? Or would I be better to uninstall it?
Thank you for any insights - my IT knowledge is rather out-of-date.

It's really worthwhile, but only if you use it. It indexes the content of your machine, so if you're looking for an email/file/whatever, you can find it really quickly and easily.

I find mine really useful but, if you're not going to use it...

Thanks - I worry that it might use a lot of the PC's resources and slow it down. Apparently it can make it easier for hackers. Do you think I need to worry about these things?

You should worry about those things, but not really vis-a-vis Google Desktop (it shouldn't make it easier for hackers). If you don't use it, you're better off uninstalling it.
