I have no idea, but we are getting one for ds, and my sister said we must get the sport game with the free hand control thingy then we will have two. (I hope you get my drift!)

ILoveDolly · 23/10/2007 22:54

yeah having two controllers is much better as then you can play tennis against each other.

dirk · 25/10/2007 00:11

If the DH likes adventure games, the Zelda game (Twilight Princess) is a good choice.

PutThatInYourPipeandSmokeIt · 25/10/2007 11:17

thanks for your replies - I am now stuck on ebay and amazon trying to work out what's a reasonable price to pay and making sure everything is included etc. John Lewis have the best price BUT they've run out and won't be getting any more in before christmas as Nintendo 'aren't making enough'.

In store a month or so ago I paid £199 for the Wii, Sports and then one other choice of games - I chose My Sims. I then paid £39 for Play in order to get the second controller.

Dh likes Tiger Woods Golf and Sports.
I like Brain Academny, Trauma and My Sims.
5yo DD likes Brain Academy (her fave), My Sims, Sports and Cars.

bubblerock · 25/10/2007 11:34

Try Blockbuster they did have a £199 deal (Wii + any game) you can put your name down on the waiting list if they haven't any in stock. You can also trade in any old games to put towards the cost.

bubblerock · 25/10/2007 11:36

Zelda is £19.99 in argos at the mo - DH also got it and thinks it's great!

RubberDuck · 25/10/2007 11:37

You want a Wii (which comes with Sports)
And Wii Play (it's a bundle of mini games that also has a controller included - it's the same cost as a spare controller so you may as well get the games bundled )

peskipixie · 25/10/2007 11:57

keep this open on your computer, if anywhere gets stock you get a pop up to let you know. keep your credit card handy, they sell out in 10 minutes. i got one this way!

Listmaker · 25/10/2007 12:02

I managed to get one last week using the website peskipixie linked to but they are selling out as fast as they come in and you have to be quick! Or pay over the odds on e-bay on Amazon marketplace. I bought the console with Sports and then the Play for the 2nd remote. I got Brain Academy & High School Musical for 3 dds aged 12,9 and 7 and then Tiger Woods golf for dh (and my dad and brother who are visiting at Christmas!!).

oh gosh - you're all giving fab advice and thank you for the link too! There is a slight spanner in the works in that there has been a possible mention of the xbox - I am now in a tiz about what to do. I know the wii is great for interaction etc but I can't see myself playing it that much at all as I have a million other things I'd rather be doing. Help - what do you think???

OP posts:
RubberDuck · 26/10/2007 14:50

If you're a serious gamer, the Xbox is the far far better bet, imo. BUT I think the Wii is better for families and kids playing. So I think it's more down to who you're buying it for...

RubberDuck · 26/10/2007 14:51

Basically, you need to ask yourself:

a) who are you buying it for
b) what's your budget
c) what sort of titles are you likely to want to play?

PutThatInYourPipeandSmokeIt · 28/10/2007 21:31

I am now sure that he would go for the wii BUT he's on the verge of buying himself one. Do you think that if I got one and he went ahead anyway, I'd be able to get my money back or would i have to seel it on ebay??

OP posts:
Leslaki · 28/10/2007 21:34

if you can get one, buy it. As there is high demand and no stick, sure you would make a fortune on Ebay in Dec!

PutThatInYourPipeandSmokeIt · 30/10/2007 21:47

ok i now have a wii but am now after the wii play for the extra controller + games.... any ideas???
