Will a different Wifi Extender work with my router?

Hi, I use a Wifi Extender (Lunuo) to extend the broadband coverage downstairs, but DS2 complaining about wifi coverage upstairs - rather than buy new extender I have found an old TP Link one I had from years ago. Can I use that do you think or do I need to have the same brand? Will I confuse my WiFi? As I am confused already Grin

Should be OK. Let me know what model what model number is the TP link is and I'll check. You might find it creates it's own network which you have to log onto (only once).

If it is an old one it might be better to replace it (about £30) to take advantage of newer broadband speeds.

It will work, but may create a third network.

the problem with extenders is that they use up a slice of the signal from your router and relay it from wherever they are plugged in, it introduces a small delay but also reduced the bandwidth for every other device on the network. Depending on how many devices you have and how much bandwidth they need, this may, or may not be a problem.

I would suggest try it - it's free, but if you have problems, seriously look at mesh network options such as tenda nova (very cheap and highly rated) BT whole home wifi - probably best price / features ratio or something high end like eero or unifi if you have a massive area or real signal issues.
