I live in France, where during lockdown we have to fill in a form every time we leave the house giving personal details, reason for being out, date and time. It's very convenient to have this on your phone, it auto fills all the standard information including the date, so you just have to tick the relevent box and the time you leave. Saves a fortune on printer ink! My friends have got this on their phones but they're all android.

On my iphone I can do the whole process, including saving it so I can show it to a gendarme if challenged, but when I try to open it I get a message saying that safari cannot open it and "The operation couldn't be completed (WebKitBlobResource error 1.)"

I get the same result on my ipad.

Any ideas?

Take a screen shot of the screen to show the gendarme?

I just thought of googling the error message, can't really understand it completely but it appears that safari doesn't like blob so I will have to find a way around it. Your idea is a good one. thanks.

A thing to try is to download another browser app such as Chrome, Firefox etc and test the form on it

thatwastheriver · 15/11/2020 12:58

tommika I'll try that. I'm not very tech savvy and I haven't had an iphone for long. I've only just realised that Safari is a browser, I use chrome on my laptop. So if I install chrome on the iphone can you foresee any problems? I'm always wary of solving one and creating another.

I get exactly the same message OP.

Someone on a FB group advised saving the form to your "files" folder, but that won't work for me either.

I generate my form on a laptop which saves it as a pdf download. I then email the downloaded pdf to myself and open it on the phone.

It's a bit of a faff but better than drowning in sheets of paper!

Have you tried saving it to iBooks? It will automatically convert it to a PDF so should be fine.

You will still have safari as the default browser, and any extra browsers won’t affect it

It just may work with some things that safari doesn’t

Thanks for all your tips. I'm currently taking a screenshot of the form which does work although it's a bit fiddly.
