iPad Storage and Facetime

My very old iPad is showing a message that storage is nearly full - does anyone know if this could be why my facetime calls have started disconnecting after a short time?

FaceTime shouldn’t be affected by a storage issue. You may have a Wi-fi issue. Other than that, as you say, your iPad is very old and creaking under the strain.
