I've recently moved abroad, outside Europe. I can't continue to use my UK personal phone (iPhone) here for anything other than what I can do on Wi-Fi. Pretty much all I use it for now is personal WhatsApp but it's a pain to carry an extra phone for just that and only when I can I pick up a Wi-Fi signal.
I have a works mobile (Samsung Android) which is dual SIM - one UK SIM, one local. Same Wi-Fi only set up with the works UK SIM as my personal mobile, except company would probably any call or data charges I incurred during an emergency situation. I need to keep the UK works SIM/ number live due to all the works apps and software loaded on to it and as an additional emergency contact.
I am allowed to use works mobile on either SIM for personal use, so problems there.
Currently I have WhatsApp on UK personal and UK work numbers, with groups and contacts on both I would like to keep. Ideally would like everything to end up on the local number.
When I do a number change on WhatsApp can I do that firstly for my UK personal to my UK works number - then switch off UK personal phone. If that works well can I then, after some days/ weeks? move all my WhatsApp groups and contacts onto my local SIM and number?
Sorry it's long but if anyone can help that would be great - I don't want to start on the change number process and discover I can't configure it this way.
