We bought an iPad earlier this year which DS basically uses 90% of the time now, with his friends calling him via my ID. I've bought another one for my own use and wondered if anyone knows how I can ensure DS' friends' calls don't all sound on my second device/if there's a way to switch the first device to a different ID without losing all the apps DS has bought. He's 9 so if we use his Apple ID I'm not sure if that will restrict the apps he can use. Thanks in advance.

If you use family sharing then he will be able to access the apps bought on your account.

I think you can do this by going to the second iPad to Settings>iCloud and then turn off the services you don't want to share. You probably also need to sign out of iMessage from the Settings menu ie Settings>Messages>Send&Receive and also FaceTime
