Is there anything regional about wiii's?!

If I buy DH and DS a wii in the US as their joint christmas pressie, is there any reason that it wouldn't work in the UK?

the games dont work on them I dont think they have to be PAL to work over here also power supply would be different but I am sure you could buy a lead over here

power supply I could deal with, but wrong TV format sounds like it would be fairly fundamental.
