Getting stuff off dead ipad

My ipad Air has stopped charging. Ideally I'd like to get it fixed, but understand that new batteries are really expensive.
Is there anyway of getting the photos etc off if I get a new one?

Will it not work at all even when plugged in?

I don't have any special tricks but I'd take it to the Apple store and I'd be fairly confident they could do it (for a fee probably, unless you're a big customer or it's covered by a warranty).

Thanks Shady I might try to do that before lockdown.

It started being very slow to charge a couple of weeks ago (taking overnight) but now it isn't charging at all.

I'm annoyed with myself for not acting when it first started playing up. I just fiddled around trying different leads etc

If it was set to automatically backup to your icloud account you’ll be fine

Singinginshower · 01/11/2020 11:37

Sadly not. Lesson learned.

NB you have to book an appointment at the genius bar, you can't just turn up (in case you didn't realise that! apols if you did)

How about trying an external powerpack. should last long enough to get your photos.

Try clearing out the slot the lightning connector goes in to - my phone wouldn't stay connected to the wire and I was amazed how much fluff came out! Use a needle (carefully!) and be patient.

Second what @minniemoll suggests.
Works on android phone charging sockets too!

Have you tried the charging cable on anything else , just to make sure it’s not the cable?
