Seen a lot of this but thought I'd start my own. Looking for a laptop that does all the basics and has the capacity for an occasional game of Sims in case lockdown hits again Grin. Hoping for it to last a while my old Packard bell has given up the ghost but was purchased from Comet 8 or 9 years ago.

Also does anyone know of a good quality photo scanner? Looking to organise all the family pictures digitally but most seem very expensive!

@grumpyhoonmain I think a year or so ago I'd have been tempted by all apple but I've got an ipad, Huawei phone, kindle and I've bought an Alexa for Christmas Hmm so I'm all over the place brand wise!

@Mutunus thank you for the recommendation again Grin I shall have a better look in the morning!

Yep - like I say I love my Macbook Air - but I'm a total Apple fangirl these days and have the full i-whatnot set - and even with the upgraded processor, it does struggle a bit with Zooms and the like. Not its fault - it was developed when we were still allowed to interact with actual people - but it's been handicapped by the era it's actually launched in.

Gorgeous gorgeous piece of technology though.

@cdtaylornats unfortunately I'm in a box room at my parents. No space for a desktop at the moment.

cdtaylornats To be fair, you still have to add a keyboard, mouse and monitor, and it's only 120gb SSD.

I'd go matebook 14 2020 AMD, ryzen 4600H, wonderful screen, built like a macbook around £700 from Huawei. 10% off with a student discount...

Should we be cautious with all the Huawei stuff? Despite the fact my phone is Huawei. I know there are some issues with possible Google updates etc.

Microsoft have said windows will still get updates on all the laptops, it doesn't use google play services for apps, so won't have the same issues as the phones.

If you're extra paranoid, you can wipe the laptop when you get it and install a fresh copy of windows.
