Help - my computer won't let me open links, what have I done?

When I try and click on links within an email, on a website, etc nothing happens. The only way to open them is to right click on the link and select 'open in new window', but that doesn't work on all links. For example, I can't open the link to add a photo in ebay.

Please help, this is driving me crazy - How can I change my settings?

have you somehow changed so that you don't allow pop ups? links often open in new windows which my puter classes as a pop up

I have to use the shift and click to open up links.
