New TV - do I need an aerial?

This is a very dumb question Blush

We're re-doing one of our bedrooms to make it more of a sitting room (DC both left home), and I want a new TV in there. But I don't know how they work these days - do I have to have it plugged into an aerial socket?

We're having some electrical work done, so if we do, it's not a problem. Just need to check!

If it’s a smart tv you can watch most things via iplayer etc.

(I have trouble getting my head round this stuff too Grin)

Do you have Sky? If so you can do multi-room

No - we have Virgin.

I don't want to have to watch through iplayer, I want to be able to access terrestrial channels (along with Freeview etc which will come with the telly). I think I'm answering my own question though, if I'm talking about terrestrial TV and I'm guessing I do need an aerial Grin

Yes, I fear you do.

Bad luck Grin
