Scam email help

I got a weird email this morning that looked like it was from my mum but clearly wasn't. Just had a dodgy link in it. On checking the sender address it's her name but not her email address. I've blocked the dodgy email address on my email. Told my mum but as it's not actually come from her account does she need to change her password? Worrying that the scammer obviously knows my email address and both our names but doesn't look like they've actually accessed our accounts. Should I do anything else?!

I get these all the time - random emails from people I haven't contacted in ten years, with no subject and nothing apart from a link.

Just delete it.

That's what I was thinking, thanks!

If you opened it you may get more similar. Try to delete without reading.

As others have said - delete. The chances are it's come via her email from someone else's address book so nothing sinister. Might be worth while getting Mum to run a quick check with Malwarebytes or similar and to change her password as well.

Most likely she opened an email attachment that scanned her contacts and emailed everyone on it.
