Why won't my ISP recognise that I have paid for an installed Norton Security?

I know I was silly to waste money on Norton when AVG is free etc etc, but I did and now when I turn on AOL it says 'not detected' at the firewall and other security bits.

What should I do?

I know it's boring but ...

When I installed Norton I had to uninstall other security stuff to complete it. Plus I think I remember getting an email telling me what to do after paying.

Hmmm. Annoying. I've renewed because I was on Norton before so I didn't think I'd have to do anything complicated.
