erm.. I recently dropped mine adn the screen broke (not other damage) and had it assessed for insurance and it was considered not worth repairing it. Can't you claim on home insurance (do you have accidental cover ?) ?

RustyBear · 23/09/2007 22:16

Some prices They do seem to vary a lot, depending on make.

Blondilocks · 23/09/2007 22:19

When I was looking at a laptop the guy said in general it was cheaper to buy a new one than to repair the screen....

ScoobyDooooo · 23/09/2007 22:21

Hm will have th check the home insurance, think we do have accidental cover, what happens if you claim though?

I hope it can be fixed or replaced because we could not afford another one

what is the make/model of your laptop scooby?

DaddyJ · 23/09/2007 22:23

Look on ebay.

They don't come cheap but should be cheaper than a new laptop!

Have you spoken to PC world?

I checked ebay but no luck so far.

On the insurance it depends who your insurance is with. I have had to claim twice with different insurance companies.

The first one, dd had pulled it off the sofa - I phoned up they did all the stuff on the phone and then sent a company to collect who assessed it and then sent me a new computer.

The second one, I rang up, they had to ring me back which they did a day or so later, then they had to ring back to take a full report which they did 2 days later. I had to go through my 'story' twice then I had to write the 'story' down and send it in with photos and get my own engineer report. Sent all this in, they then rang up again to query some things, I had to send in more photos. Eventually after I write them a snotty letter they accepted the claim and sent me a new laptop.

(The first was direct line, the second Axa through Portman).
