iMessage confusion

I wondered if anyone can explain as to why, when ever my partner sends me a photo/picture via iMessage, it always goes to unknown sender?

As far as I know, it is iPhone to iPhone and not iPad to iPhone- not sure if that would make a difference?

Is their mobile number definitely stored against the contact in your phone? Should be a quick one to check.

My mum had this for a while and it was something to do with the phone company associating another number with her phone. I think maybe because she had multiple contracts in her name for all of my siblings. She just took it into the shop she bought it from and they sorted it although appreciate this might not be an option right now!

@FiresideTreats. Their number is definitely stored against the contact number in my phone.

@Turnedouttoes. We have both had the same mobile number for many years and been a ‘contact’ for 5 years. It only started to happen last year, but then we had always used WhatsApp for picture msgs before (nothing dodgy- )
