I have telly with sky, phone with post office, no broadband.

old people don't want to swop either of the first but I NEED the BB! lol. dial up is sooo crap!

only thing is the laptop is at least 5 years old (prob more) and is slow/basic by todays standards. also hasn't got wireless.

ao any thoughts, mum currently pays £14.99 for d/u - i'd look but it's really that slow!

As you have Sky TV, won't Sky offer you a broadband over ADSL connection at a special rate? They may however need to switch over your phone line, so that could be an issue.

To compare Broadband suppliers, try

Laptop itself should not make a great deal of difference, though it helps if it has an Ethernet port, or Wireless connection. You can get Wireless connectors now, which use USB and also ones which fit in a laptops PCMCIA slot (if your laptop has that, my old Toshiba S3000 does).
