Following on from my earlier thread, we need a new laptop. Just for kids schoolwork really. And a bit of internet browsing!

The Lenovo ideapad was ok, a bit slow so maybe something a bit faster this time round. Will be installing MS office on it too.

Personally I’d love a MacBook but can’t justify spending the money.

Ideally want to keep it under £500, under £400 would be even better!

The main thing I would say is avoid mechanical hard disks. Look for SSD storage. A Core i3 laptop with an SSD is adequate for most things, but one with a mechanical hard disk can be pretty sluggish.

Cruel, thanks. I’ve got my eye in either of these. Both from Costco, I think they’re pretty much the same. One online is working out around £50 cheaper than one in store.

It's not going to be the fastest machine around but it will be a lot better than your Lenovo. 256gb hard drive storage isn't vast but will keep you going for a while. Ideally 8gb of ram would be better but I appreciate you have a budget.
Currys/PC World have this on offer.tinyurl.com/yazl32x7
It has a faster processor, more ram but a slightly smaller screen than the ASUS.

If you can wait until PC World reopens they do a trade in for old laptops.

There have been some pretty good deals coming and going, but you need to be quick onto them.
