Any linkedin users know about this?

Posting for traffic - I was doing some research for an interview I am attending. If I Google someones name on LinkedIn and view their public profile (but do not have a linkedin account and am not logged in) will they know I've viewed their profile? Also if my location is on and Gmail logged in on another tab is any of this tracked and picked up as an anonymous user?

If you don’t have an account and you’re not logged in, no, they won’t know you viewed them. If you do login and your settings are that people can see you viewed them then they will know. Some people have their settings deliberately vague though, e.g I sometimes get “a person with the job title recruiter viewed your profile” but I can’t see who because of their settings. If you have a premium account you can amend it so you view people and it doesn’t tell them you have viewed them. HTH.

No idea about the gmail part though but I think you’re pretty safe on the Linkedin profile. Although when I’m interviewing I often see interviewees have looked at my profile and it’s fine, I don’t mind, why would I? It shows they’re doing their research.

Actually though, even if the interviewer does see you've looked them up on Linked In, I think that's absolutely fine. I would expect most interviewees to do this and I would see it as a positive thing. I always look up interviewees on Linked In (although I have my settings set so they can't see I've looked them up!)

You could always ask one of us to view their profile and send you a pdf version of the page that you can pore over at your leisure Grin

Thinking about I think I just saw their summary on the google search page and didnt even click to view their public profile! I definitely dont have an account as clicked on forgot password and it said no account is available for my email address.
