Password protecting files

Can anyone tell me how to password protect "word" files and also how to transfer them onto CD?

'File', 'Save As', 'Options' - then you can enter a password to protect it.
If you forget the password it is practically impossible to hack in to that file, whereas it is much easier to hack into the actual PC

To move the file onto CD - you need a writeable CD drive (sorry, I need to check the obvious) and some software - Roxio, Easy CD etc - quite a few of these are free to download.
