iPhone 11 making calls with headphones

I have an iPhone 8 and it’s time to upgrade. I make lots of calls using my apple headphones with a microphone.

As the iPhone 11 has no headphone jack, how do you make calls using a headphone, I don’t want to get a bug clunky pair, something like the previous apple headphones would be good. If I bought wireless earbuds how does a microphone function work?

You either use wired headphones which have a lightning connector (instead of the 3.5mm headphone jack) or you use Bluetooth headphones which work in exactly the same way as the wired ones - they have an in-built microphone in the body of the earpiece instead of on the cable
