I'm not very clued up in the ways of emails other than sending and receiving 💁🏻‍♀️. Obviously.
But I've just found something strange in my inbox.
A year and a half ago my daughter, a baby at the time attended a local nursery briefly.
I received an email from their deputy manager and the heading was my daughters full name. It said message clipped, obviously I clicked on it because it seemed like a nursery thing. It was a long article about Gordon Ramsey and bitcoin 🤨now, I understand it's just a load of crap you get sometimes but it's specifically bothering me that it's the staff members name and my daughters.
I am concerned how this happened and what else could be unprotected. Does it sound like a hack?

It doesn't sound like you've been hacked, no. It is possible the nursery has been or it may be that the attacker has picked it up from something online.

Yes I know I haven't, I'm concerned that information legally protected at nursery has been. I've looked online and can't find anything about receiving emails from someone that didn't send them containing private information.
Obviously all nursery information is confidential so I am alarmed to have been sent my toddlers name tied in with this woman's. Especially for a stupid scam.
I'll go in and speak to them to let them know. The woman probably isn't aware her names going out like this.

I'm glad it was just crap about Gordon Ramsay though lol

Most likely the nursery had been hacked and their contact list was being used to spam other email addresses, including yours. Unfortunately you clicked on a dodgy link (where it said message clipped) which means you could have downloaded a virus. You need to do a full virus scan and change your email password.
