can you view a conversation once you've left it, ie can you save it and read stuff written once you've left?

Yes, if you have messenger plus installed. Not sure if you can without it though.

CantSleepWontSleep · 06/08/2007 08:10

Or if you're on a mac right click on the person's name in your list of friends, and select 'view past conversations'.

msnquestion · 06/08/2007 08:14

thanks, i don't have messenger plus, can't find anyway of saving anything. So quess it's not possible. Have tried the 'help' function but doesn't have anything useful in it.

Ok well won't be saving anything then!

I can save convoes on Live Messenger. I think there's a checkbox somewhere to do thisj

When I chat with someone, their old conversations appear on the screen, so it's easy to continue and old chat.

ghosty · 06/08/2007 08:17

You can cut and paste the conversation and save it in a document - I have done that before.

scienceteacher · 06/08/2007 08:18

Go to >Tools>Options>Messages>Message History and there are a couple of check boxes for saving chats

msnquestion · 06/08/2007 08:20

when i go to 'file' there's a view message history option. But when i go into it it says none of your contacts have a message history saved on this computer.

so i guess i can't view old conversations but there's no way of knowing if anyone i chat with can save things is there

ghosty, if you do that will it only have messages until you leave the conversation or the entire conversation

OP posts:
ghosty · 06/08/2007 08:22

Oh, only when you leave the conversation ... everything up until you cut and paste ...
Nothing after you have left or before you came into the conversation.

msnquestion · 06/08/2007 08:28

ok thanks ghosty!!

And if you save a conversaiton in msn like you have said(i have found those options thanks scienceteacher) will that only save when you are actually in the conversation not before or after you join/leave?

Thanks everyone

Yep - you only get what you see on your own screen. If you join a group conversation, you won't save the bit that happened when you weren't there.

lunavix · 06/08/2007 08:35

I can save all my msn stuff.... -ponders-

msnquestion · 06/08/2007 08:35
