Can get into my iPhone with fingerprint but not with passcode

I’ve been sorting my phone and downloaded my photos into the iCloud. I also changed my Apple ID itunes apps password.

However, I’ve now got a problem as I can only get onto my phone using my fingerprint, and it won’t accept my passcode. Why is this? I’m very worried now that at some point it will ask for my passcode as well as fingerprint, and I won’t be able to get onto my phone!

It’s now saying my passcode is required to enable Touch ID, so I can’t access my phone at all now!

When I try to use my passcode it’s saying my phone is disabled and to try again in 1 minute.

Have you tried with and without the caps lock on?

peachgreen · 31/07/2019 19:37

Your pass code isn't the same as your iTunes password. It's usually numbers.

I can’t do caps lock for the passcode, it is just numbers that come up in screen.

Peachgreen- yes I know. I just wondered if the issues were linked as it seemed a coincidence that this happened after I changed my iTunes password.

Ah of course. It was the talk of the other password which confused me!

There are, or were, easy to bypass the passcode using Siri - maybe try them?

peachgreen · 31/07/2019 19:45

Ahh sorry, I got confused by the opening post. One for the Apple Store in that case I think.

It’s now saying on my iPad that my phone number is being used for FaceTime on another device. Do you think I could be hacked?

There are a few things this might be but it's most likely to do with the Apple ID password change likely what's happened is your iPad passcode has transferred over to your iPhone, but it's also worth changing the passcode in settings as if you do get locked out the only way you can remove it is with a restore and you would loose everything from your phone as the back up would have the same passcode! You definitely haven't been hacked don't worry it's just telling you you have logged in to your iPhone with that Apple ID they aren't the smartest things one that I've noticed is to approve sign ins on my Mac I get a verification code sent to my Mac it's just an issue with apples coding that they haven't go around to fixing yet so don't panic 😊

Hiya. Do a hard reset that will sort it. Hold the on/off button and the fingerprint button at the same time. Always works for me

bubblegumunicorn · 31/07/2019 21:29

Don't do a hard reset!!! That will stop your fingerprint from working that happens when the device is turned off!!!! Please don't do that (I used to work for Apple and we couldn't help you once this has been done unfortunately!)

raisinsraisinsraisins · 31/07/2019 22:00

Oh no, I did the hard reset!

What will happen now?
I’ll have to go to Apple store when it opens before I leave for airport - I’m off on holiday tomorrow
