I was typing away without a care in the world, and my 'L' key on my laptop just popped off!
As you can see I can still use 'L' but I have to press the rubbery thingy underneath, which is not ideal and probably not good for the keyboard.
If anyone can advise me how to get the key back on or any other ideas I would be most grateful..

what speccy said
should just click back on

flowerybeanbag · 27/07/2007 08:48

ooh, I don't know, I did kind of try and put it back on but I didn't want to be too violent and it just kind of wobbled. Hang on I'll try again..
nope, it just sits back on top of the rubbery thingy loosely and when I tap it it pops off again

One of mine came off yesterday - it sort of slid back on. Try pushing and sliding slightly upwards/downwards.

ooh saggarmakersBK I did that and it's now kind of half on..
There's kind of hook type things on the keyboard and plastic folding things on the key and one side's now clicked in.

Will keep jiggling to see if the other one will pop...

Glad it sort of works They are very tempermental aren't they? I have one for work which I use at home - it's always happening to me and I swear the techy bods think I let my kids loose on it.

flowerybeanbag · 27/07/2007 09:19

I know! Techy bods are most mistrusting of people like me who haven't got a clue

Update is I think I have diagnosed the problem. One of the hooky type things on the keyboard itself is not sticking up enough so the plastic thingummy on the key can't slide under it. (that's the official technical description by the way )
