Texts going to Messenger on my phone

For some reason some texts that I'm sent appear in Messenger, any idea why and how to stop it happening?

Android phone if that makes a difference

Check the settings on messenger, there will be an SMS option somewhere and you just turn it off.

It's 'account settings' which will take you to Facebook and you scroll down to notifications' then 'text messaging'

Thanks both.

I can't find any Settings option on Messenger so have gone into the app and tried it that way through Permissions. I'm not convinced that it's going to work as I might have switched off their SMS to me but we'll see

On FB Settings I could only find about text notifications from FB eg, friend requests

Confused

Messenger is better - it doesn't use up your texts number.

Wallywobbles · 29/06/2019 17:10

I always keep messenger notifications off. So I'd not get these messages so not always better.

Baritriwsahys · 29/06/2019 17:26

It's not better at all. It's just different. It's only better if it suits your situation. All the message platforms offer different things to suit different needs. It's very shortsighted to say X is better without considering that is may not be better for everyone. Some people prefer Y.

In any case, that's not what OP asked.

OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny · 29/06/2019 18:03

I get free unlimited texts anyway so not fussed about using up my text allowance.

It's just that I use different ways of contacting different people and with some I prefer to text. I also don't like the confusion when I need to text a fb friend as to whether I'm sending a text of Messenger message.

I also don't like the fact that Messenger appears to have taken over as the default way of messaging people without me (to my knowledge) opting for that to happen Angry
