New email address

I need to set up a new email address for myself, and wanted to know which was the best to use? I have a Gmail one and I have so much crap attached to it, I need to just start afresh. TIA

My Gmail rarely gets spam. I'd say if you just want it for everyday activities, Gmail is fine - but don't subscribe to shite. Use your old email for that.

If you get your own domain (I use 1&1 Inios) you get 50 free email addresses. This means you can have 1 for various things including one for annoying sites that demand an email address and set it to delete every 2 days or so. It also means you can change internet supplier and keep your email the same.

I heard one of the issues with gmail is it takes over everything and you have to log in everywhere with it, rather than just log in and out. is that true?
