What’s the best way to play sims 4?

Dc want it, how is the best way to play it? We have iPads and laptops. One is a gaming laptop but doesn’t have a disk thing (you can see I’m not good with technology Grin !) the other basic laptop does. Should I buy a disk or can you down load it? We use steam but I don’t think you can buy it on there?

I'd say the laptop is your best bet. I'm pretty sure you can buy it as a digital download these days (we got one of those stupid, expensive, stuff packs not too long ago, and definitely no disks involved). Steam has some Sims games, from what I remember, so you could at least check if it's there. Origin has its own online store.

Gaming laptop, you can download it through origin so you don't need a disk!

Phew! What’s origin? Haven’t heard of that? Iv looked on steam but you can’t buy the game but can mods or something..... it has to be sims 4 apparantly not the others Hmm

Origin is the platform you use to play Sims and other EA games. If it's not available on Steam, you'll need to download Origin on the laptop, and from there you can access all EA games and the store etc.

I meant if Sims isn't on Steam, like you say it isn't... Origin won't be there... I need more coffee... www.origin.com

Check the specs of the laptop and compare to the game before you buy; a lot of laptops don't have the capacity to run such a high-graphics game. It eats up memory like crazy, especially if when you buy all the cool add-ons!

My DC love it. The younger ones just mess about in build-a-Sim mode and the older ones get their Sims into all sorts of mischief, then kill them. Shock

Ok... the laptop is a Lenovo idealad 330s - 15arr .... what does that mean?

So if some laptops can’t run high graphics game.... how come I can play the old sims on my phone? Or is that very different?

My PC is pretty old (although graphics card is newer than the rest of it), and runs Sims 4 okay, although I do turn down some options to make it run smoother (you can adjust things in-game). Here are the system requirements for Sims 4 if you want to check before spending money! (I always end up having to google how to check my own specs when I need to check them tbh... Blush )

Iv had a look on the laptop and it doesn’t give me all the information from that link? It says installed ram 8gb (6.9 gp useable) system type 64 bit operating x64 based processor....

It is Ryzen 5 with Radeon vega graphics (nods knowingly whilst copying what the stickers say)

I found this which makes it sound like the vega 11 graphics at least meet the requirements, although might not work on the highest of graphic settings in game.

Inbedbynine · 29/03/2019 12:39

Thanks for the link but that went completely over my head! Do I have vega 11 graphics??

On the laptop keyboard, press the Windows key and Pause/Break key at the same time. This will bring up your computer specs. Then, compare to the list of specs here: www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/requirements/the-sims-4/12305/amp

Sounds like you'll be OK though. I will caveat that Sims 3 is much better... I was kind of disappointed with 4. Maybe this is an excuse to buy more of its expansion packs and play more.
