HELP ME! HELP ME! All my mpegs have become unplayable and they are all the ones of DS as a baby [gurn]

All I want to type is "help me help me" ad infinitum
I was looking at some old baby photos and went to play an MPEG which I have subsequently worked was from my camcorder. In fact, to cut a long story short, none of the movies from my camcorder will play. ALL applications are saying there is a part missing or that they are not movies (I can hear sound in some applications but that is it)
I have upgraded Windows Media Player (which is the default) and it has made no difference.

Does anyone know where to start looking?

Pleeeeeease!

are they definitely MPEGs? What's the file extension? Could be that you've got a mangled codec somewhere.. ...what part is your computer saying is missing?

Hi! Thanks for responding
Definitely MPegs - it says Movie file (MPeg).
Windows Media just tells me that it's not a movie file and Quicktime just says part of the file is missing but not which part.

I have to go out for a couple of hours now and will check when I get back

Been hacking away on Google for answers as to what the problem is, and DP saunters in, mentions that he removed the software for the DVD camcorder (picture package - unspecified reason, perhaps a whim) and reloaded it.
Voila.
All movies back to normal.
Lesson learned: set administrator rights.

Thanks for responding
